Activities to integrate international students into the UVT community

The Student Counseling and Support Service is interested in the situation of international students at the West University of Timișoara and tries, together with the other structures of UVT (International Relations Directorate, Student InfoCenter and Dormitory Administration and Management Service) to ensure their integration as harmoniously as possible. For example, these structures collaborated during the period (July-September 2024) in order to outline a strategic plan regarding the integration of international students (international students from EU third countries, international students from EU/EEA/Switzerland/UK, international students participating in mobility programs, Romanian students from all over the world) into the academic and social community, promoting a multicultural, inclusive and supportive environment.

SCSS-UVT (Activități de integrare a  studenților internaționali în comunitatea UVT) organized training sessions for student tutors responsible for their integration and created a questionnaire for the first stage of the needs analysis of this category of students. The student tutors responsible for international students contributed to the organization of the first edition of the “Multicultural Camp” camp and coordinated a series of socialization and educational development activities, including “Online Workshop – The Green Room: Crafting Your Personal Brand”, Picnic in Carmen Sylva Park and “Boardgames Night”. The program was also extended to the Faculty of Letters, History, Philosophy and Theology, where three student tutors provided support in organizing the “Spring Learning Camp” educational camp and carried out a series of online activities, with the aim of supporting students during the session and sharing their own learning experiences with them. The student tutors also organized two social evenings in the UVT dormitories, a series of individual meetings and provided support in the relationship with the Timiș Immigration Service.

In addition to the aforementioned customized activities, all categories of international students also had access to the standard services offered by SCSS-UVT, including workshops and individual counseling sessions intended for the entire UVT student community.

By implementing this strategic planning, SCSS-UVT is committed to ensuring effective integration and constant support for international students. The detailed plan provides not only an organized framework of activities, but also a continuous evaluation system, to promptly respond to the needs of international students and contribute to their academic and social success.
