Talentarij is an innovative mobile career orientation model designed to support 8th-grade primary school students (12-15 years old) in making career decisions. It enables young people to gain a deeper understanding of their abilities, skills, and interests, and helps them plan their future career paths based on objective and standardised data.

The added value of Talentarij lies in its holistic approach, as it integrates three key areas of career decision-making – abilities, skills, and interests.

The first component consists of computer-based cognitive abilities testing using the online Multifactor Test Battery (eMFBT), developed and standardised through the cooperation between the Employment Service of Slovenia and the Centre for Psychodiagnostic Resources. Students gain insight into their verbal comprehension speed, numerical ability, spatial ability, data processing speed, and concentration.

The second component includes skills assessment through specially developed Talentarij stations, designed and standardised within the MOBITA SI-AT project. Through practical testing, students gain insight into their skills in the following areas: hand–eye coordination; visual-spatial skills and sensorimotor adaptation; fine motor skills and manual dexterity; reaction time and short-term memory.

The third component focuses on exploring interests through the online questionnaire “Kam in kako” (“Where and How”), by the Employment Service of Slovenia. The results show students their compatibility with different professions, types of work, and personality styles.

After completing the testing process, each student receives a comprehensive individual report that combines the results from all three components. In this way, students obtain a holistic overview of their potential and opportunities for further development.

An important element of the model is the professional interpretation of the results. Based on the testing outcomes, specially trained career counsellors provide interpretations for school counsellors. Students who participate in the Talentarij model also have the opportunity to receive individual counselling at the Career centres for youth VšečKAM and GREM+.

Talentarij therefore makes an important contribution to more informed career decision-making among young people, reducing uncertainty when choosing educational pathways, and strengthening their career maturity.
