USAMV Jobs 7th Edition - an important initiative in the field of career counseling

The Career Counseling and Guidance Center of the University of Agronomic Sciences and the Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest recently organised the 7th edition of the ‘USAMVJOBS’ Job Fair which is an event dedicated to recruitment and direct interaction with future specialists.
The USAMVJOBS Job fair was attended by undergraduate and master’s students, as well as recent graduates seeking a paid internship programme or an entry-level job. The Career Counselling and Guidance Center also provided them with access to resources designed to help them discover their vocation and professional path.
Objectives of USAMVJOBS
The main objective of the event was to facilitate the transition from education to the labour market for USAMV Bucharest students and graduates by creating a framework for direct interaction with employers. It also aimed to support career guidance, identify employment and internship opportunities, and strengthen partnerships between the academic and economic sectors.
USAMVJobs is a job platform that connects employers in the field with students and graduates of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest. The platform was developed by the Career Counseling and Guidance Center (CCOC) and aims to establish partnerships with companies in the sector in order to provide students and graduates of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest with employment opportunities, internship programmes, and volunteering activities.
USAMV Bucharest students and graduates can register on the platform free of charge at any time, upload their CVs, and apply for available job opportunities.
The event was also free of charge for both companies and students, creating a connection between students, master’s students, and graduates seeking employment opportunities, and employers interested in recruiting young specialists in USAMV-related fields. Employers had the opportunity to register their companies for the USAMVJobs Job Fair and present their offers to our students. In order to identify the main requirements of employers from both the public and private sectors regarding graduates’ competences and their employability process, employers were invited to complete a questionnaire.
During the event, workshops were also organised, providing participants with new knowledge, skills, and techniques, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with other experts in the field and discuss relevant issues and solutions. The workshops focused on interactive and practical activities, allowing participants to actively apply the knowledge they acquired to their career development and learn how to apply for a job, how to prepare a CV, as well as receive advice for job interviews. These workshops were organised both by CCOC and by employers.
Shared knowledge
An important aspect in organising this event was the need to align graduates’ competences with the actual requirements of employers, as highlighted through the feedback collected via questionnaires. The workshops emphasised the importance of practical employability skills, such as writing an effective CV, preparing for interviews, and adapting to the requirements of the recruitment process.
The information collected during the event can be used by career counselors to adapt guidance services to the current needs of the labour market by developing programmes and workshops focused on concrete employability skills. The information can also contribute to improving collaboration with employers by implementing their feedback into counseling and career guidance activities.
The job fair takes place annually in April, in front of the Career Counseling and Guidance Center, and participation is free of charge. Information regarding the activities of participating companies, the application process for job offers and internship programmes, as well as participation in workshops delivered by representatives of participating companies and CCOC, has been and is still available on the event website.
Impact of the event
The event had a positive impact by increasing participants’ employability and strengthening the connection between the university and the socio-economic environment. It contributed to the development of students’ practical competences, increased the visibility of career opportunities, and facilitated direct access to relevant employers in the field.
