Supporting the management of ‘transitions’ through
Guidance (a virtual Academia experience)
A core element of the Euroguidance role, both nationally and in a European context, is to develop the com-
petence of guidance professionals in areas pertaining to lifelong guidance. One of the ways we achieve
this is through our participation in Academia - a European thematic study visit programme. This provided
opportunities for NCGE Euroguidance Ireland to introduce international guidance colleagues to the many
initiates that we have in Ireland. We also look forward to hearing how clients are supported in their respec-
tive countries.
Exploring the role of Guidance in supporting individ-
uals to effectively navigate key transitions across a
life span.
We heard from a variety of interesting speakers, including:
NCGE who gave an overview of our organisation
and its role in Guidance as well as the landscape of
Guidance in Ireland and how it supports all young
people in the Post Primary and those in FET (VET/
Adult Education), with an emphasis on the theme of
transitions.
CCR Brilliant Pathways (Ron Rix and Tara Smith)
who shared their insights on how we can ensure
successful transitions from School to College to the
Workforce for young people.
